I totally get it — when I first tried to learn to meditate I basically had two speeds: I either couldn’t quiet the CONSTANT mind chatter… or I would completely conk out: full-on sleep and snoring!
(Full disclosure? I still have challenges sitting still to meditate — I’m more of a moving-meditation gal. Or as my mentor encourages: wiggle into stillness.)
What has transformed for me is my ability to have a few in-between speeds. Vagus-nerve toning and companion nervous-system nurturing techniques have allowed me to develop and maintain a much mellower state — and a speedier return to mellow when I’m knocked off my lotus position.
At an OASIS retreat you’re expertly guided through face, neck, and shoulder massage to awaken the vagus nerve’s communication pathways; side stretching to hydrate your fascia; hand and foot massage work; and a healing sound bath — then warmly welcomed into community with healthy snacks. You’ll leave feeling like you just had a luxurious vacation, without the airport stress.
If you’re not taking time on your own for these practices, you likely never will — without help and guidance. Ask me about the next OASIS.
